Description
IPUD, Paragate’s Implantable Peritoneal Ultrafiltration Device, is an implant that acts as an active mechanical bypass of the kidneys. It is a minimally invasive (laparoscopic approach) and continuously (24/7) and slowly absorbs systemic isotonic extracellular fluid and drains it to the urinary system preventing recurred accumulation. In addition, IPUD guarantees a continuous monitoring of the fluid as well as the urinary system function thanks to a sensing.
The objectives
The objectives of the project are to advance development of IPUD system and perform needed verification and validation and to test the IPUD in clinical trial. The Horizon 2020 EIC program and our highly rated European partners within support us in further deliver the system to its ultimate goal, to bring better care for millions of patients across Europe and worldwide.
